Any advice for someone who's never ridden a road bike?
Hi, welcome to the forums! I'm also in between Baltimore and DC (Beltsville just south of Laurel). I've been riding a road bike for about a year now and am totally hooked. I now own two, I commute on one and race on the other.

My biggest piece of advice: get a road bike that's large enough for you. Lots of people get a road bike that's too small for them because they find it uncomfortable or intimidatingly high at first, but you'll be happier a few weeks down the line if you get one that fits right.
