Just a FYI - when I was the promoter for the Baldy Hillclimb back in the 80's - early 90's there were only 2 riders who rode the 12.6 mile course in under 1 hour.. The record Holder Tom Resh and Ned Overend.

When Resh set the record he was known as a locally great climber and he did the course with a 39x21 low end gear.. The time just over 56 minutes. The story goes that Tom forgot to change his freewheel the day of the race and instead of having a 24t low end cog he had to ride with the 21 and that year he set the record.

If you ever want to see how you stack up the race started right off Euclid and 24th - just to the left of the fire station and went to the top of the ski lifts.
