How to Clean WD-40 off of Brake System (I know I'm an idiot)

Okay so I screwed up. I just got a brand new bike Saturday and the brakes were driving me nuts so I put some WD-40 on it to try to get the squeaking down to a minimum. I have since found out that I never should have done this. I did not know that bikes and WD-40 did not get along. My question is how I can mend this problem. Like I said, brand spanking new bike. Maybe 10 miles on it. I sprayed most of the rear brake system (brake noodle, shoe, cables, arms, tension screws, pads, etc.). I have heard of trying dish soap and water and alcohol and perhaps replacing the pads. How serious is this issue and should I give it to a pro to handle or is it safe for me to do it?
