Bad sores from riding, help!

Well this is a nice way to start myself on this cool bike forum lol.

I've actually noticed I have a pretty bad open sore after returning from a few hour ride on my road cycle. The bike is kinda old. I think its from the 80's and the seat is not very forgiving, even with a little gel pad thrown on top.

I'm not quite sure what to do, because I don't want to keep harming myself this bad, but I do want to keep riding. I've tried everything from raising my seat to adjusting the level of the seat (which is very difficult on my bike for some reason).

This is the kind of bike I have.

I'm thinking I might just have to get a new seat entirely, but if anyone experienced could chime in with some advice I'd appreciate it. I'm hesitant to buy a new seat as I only paid $25 for the whole bike in the first place. A new seat would probably be at least double or triple that lol.
