In all honesty, when well adjusted I'm hard pushed to tell any difference between less expensive and supposed 'higher quality' components. For example my mate let me try his bike with 105 once, and from what I'd heard I was expecting something pretty impressive. In reality though, it was nothing special, and certainly no vast improvement over my tiagra setup
