Some here may remember Jim Fixx, author of "The Complete Book of Running" who is credited with helping start the fitness boom of the 80s. Fixx died of a heart attack at age 52, to the glee of many anti-exercise zealots. It mattered not that Fixx was genetically predisposed to heart disease, or that his lifestyle prior to taking up running included weighing 220lbs and being a heavy smoker.

No, running killed him. See! Take that, health nuts!

Sadly, I suspect too many people will simply see this study as affirmation for their belief that "Exercise hurts the heart", completely glossing over the defining word excess.

"C'mon kids, we're off to Micky D's.! Fetch the hand-truck so we can get your brother out to the mini-van."
