I work in a small city that became an island over a hundred years ago when the city cut the slight sliver of land connecting it to the mainland so that boats could get through (fishing community), now you need to cross one of two bridges to get into the city. One bridge is for the highway (bikes are excluded from the highway) and the second is a draw bridge which rises on a regular basis for boats. For a couple of years they regularly kept the draw bridge open for a few days at a time so they could rebuild its mechinism. How is a bike commuter supposed to deal with that?
