What about compression shorts? I have a pair of Pearl Izumi liners with the chamois pad, but it sucks to walk around in. So how do compression shorts without the chamois liner work in taking away sweat?
Post 7 already mentioned Under Armor shorts; that's what I use for commutes and other shortish rides when I expect to sweat. I can't really speak to wicking properties of compression shorts, but because they are form-fitting, they act like a second skin and (in my experience) do a good job preventing chafing. They also dry a lot quicker than cotton underwear.
