It seems to me that this is what Strava is going to say is impractical or impossible, the business model change that could mitigate these types of lawsuits. But what if they did it instead? Wouldn't Strava come out smelling like a rose while adding value to the site for the people who aren't chasing records? It seems like an opportunity for clever cyclist/programmers.
I believe such a system would expose Strava to an endless debate in courtrooms over why a segment wasn't deemed dangerous and eliminated. Every segment could potentially become a lawsuit.
