Each market decides what something is worth. I think Real Estate in NYC is crazy, totally crazy. But the price is set by the market. With bikes, if you don't like the price in your market, you have the choice of looking outside your market, or word of mouth/networking.

Prices around here are crazy = Prices around here are not crazy at all, the market is just willing to pay more than I would like to pay.

Imagine you had such a bike, in that condition, and you wanted to sell it. And say similar bikes in your area were selling for $400. Would you ask $250, or $400?
