..:: [newbie] Peugeot pH-8 For Uphill/Downhill - Upgrade or a new modern bike? ::..

Guys, This is my first bicycle. After riding for 1200 Km in 4 months, I love cycling now! but I realize there are slight problems for my bike

- Going uphill with 10 speed is hard for me, I tried the lowest gear but it's still so hard for me, my friend's much cheaper bike with 27 speed outperformed me!

Q: Riding uphill with hard pedal force, will it hurt my bicycle? or will it hurt my knees?

Q: Going downhill at 60km/h, but is my old bicycle ready for this? I am not sure the specification for Ph-8, is it ready for this, or just for causal cycling only?

Q: I am not satisfied with the breaking distance of this bike. I visited 5 shops, and they told me to use the Red brake, not the green brake (Check the arrows on picture), some advice me to change the cable as there is a little rusting and create friction... what are your professional advice?

Q: Is the Tyre okay for higher speed? I am afraid of skidding when I was going downhill...

Q: Is there a way to move the gear shifting in a better position? I dont quite like its current position.

Are the upgrade worthy or should I just get a 2nd hand modern professional road bike for a little more serious riding?
