Bikes: Peugeot (753r frame-1989), Raleigh (Reynolds 653-1991).

What to do with a Reynolds 753r frame?

Hi folks,

I recently bought a Reynolds 753r frame which needs a new chainstay put in (black frame shown below). Not a problem; the rather frivalous problem I have is how to kit it out. I have a Reynolds 653 which I've done kind-of vintage - Campag victory/triomphe, campag headset, suntour levers, mid 80's cranks, freewheel at the back and ITM stem and Raleigh handlebars and brake levers all from the mid 80's (green frame pictures). The wheels and brakes are 2011 - never too sure about vintage brakes and wheels. A mate thinks I ought to go modern, but my heart says vintage. It's a blank canvas on which I can't decide what to do. Suggestions would be very helpful (polite, of course!). The black frame was originally a Peugeot Perthus (something like that off the top of my head) built in '89. Rear spacing is 126mm, which may limit how new the hubs can be.

Many thanks for any suggestions.

Gerald
