They get bored if they're at home. Believe it or not, these kids LOVE school- so they decided to send the kids to school for the summer. The younger one probably needs it more than the older one. If the younger one doesn't have everything reinforced regularly, he'd most likely forget it by the next school year. The older one is very restless. During his month off, he taught himself multiplication and division with flash cards we got him, and he read like crazy. I actually think he should skip a couple of grades up for the summer so he can be challenged more, but my brother doesn't want the kids with kids that aren't their age.
They're great kids- very bright, but I can't do much with them at home. Besides that (not wanting to sound selfish), I like to ride in the mornings, and both of them work. If the kids weren't at school, it would mean that I would not get my rides on unless I rode in the evenings, and I'm not willing to ride in the evenings.
