This Velo review not only is great promotion for PSIMET, it completely debunks the name brand wheel mystique. When one looks at a high end Mavic wheel, for instance, there is a strong temptation to believe that all that fancy design like the funky hub flanges with special tabs for the striaght pull spokes is really necessary, important and worthwhile to pay for. Whoah hang on. Are we reading the same review? Psimet scored 62/100. Bontrager 81/100. Very nice that a small company is reviewed. Totally agree. Even cooler that its in the same conversation as the "big boys". Psimet still came in last.
What it does show is diminishing returns. You want that extra little advantage? You're going to have to pay a lot more to get a little back. This should not be a shocker to anyone. Like most consumer goods, you'll have to pay more and more to get those incremental benefits.
