So, what is the issue? Are you required to stop at all crosswalks, or only when pedestrians are present?

Here in Wisconsin a motorist is "supposed" to yield for pedestrians in crosswalks, whether they do or not is a subject of discussion in a different section of the site. But if there is no stop sign, and no traffic light, and no pedestrians, then you don't even have to slow down.

Now, if you really seek punishment for your apparent transgression then go back to that crosswalk, lock your bike to the crane, then cross the street via said crosswalk six times while singing a made-up song about Zebras, bicycles, and people in crosswalks. Then post a video on youtube or vimeo about the episode. Does that help any???
