I'm still wanting to know from the OP how much he tightened the flyer. It really looks like he WAYYY over tightened it which would make this issue entirely his fault. If nothing else I will submit that the newer brooks saddles i've owned do seem not as well made as the old ones in terms of the leather, however I've never had any issues as described.
You may be right, or not; I can't tell. I'm surprised that the video shows so little of the offending saddle. He talks about the tension, but doesn't show the tension bolt. When he says "as you can see..." I can't see what he's talking about. The sides seems splayed upward; how did this happen? And so on.
