Except for drawing apps, it's for media consumption, web browsing, email and games.
And yes, I've had one. The lack of a real file navigation system pretty much voids it as anything more than an iPhone with a big screen.
That said, it could be all you need if you're on tour, want to check email, and update a blog. So could an iPhone with an external keyboard. It depends a lot on what you're using it for.
