i was attacked by a goose once...on hines drive in michigan...as i approached, i watched it take off 50 yrds ahead of me and maybe 30 yrds to my right, on a path that looked like it would intersect my trajectory...i started thinking, cool, it wants to pace with me, kind of like those nature videos of birds flying next to your passenger wi...at that instant, now about 3ft from each other, it flares its wings back and starts to lunge forward towards with its beak - i tuck down and i feel it land on my back and start hitting my helmet, i start swinging back with my right arm while pedalling and trying not to fall...probably lated 10 secs or so...anyone that knows hines drive, knows it's pretty popular - i stopped a few yards later to share a laugh w/ anyone around, and not a single soul (car, cyclist or joggers) witnessed the event...hines drive is also a road that you loop back, so i got to see the culprit later and we both shared a stare-down from across the street...geese...
