Thing is that you've been around for a while. You see people posting with their bikes and kind of have a mental poll of what saddles are popular in the cycling community. This guy is new and hasn't seen all the saddle threads, all the pages of the "post your FG/SS pics", or all the newbie build threads where they ask for advice on random parts. The knowledge of what parts/brands are quality is something that just comes from being around and reading about it. It can't obtained just by running a couple searches.
