There is a group of us noob's that are going to go climb GMR (local popular mountain climb). I've been told I can do it on the 12-25, but from my 19 miles last night...I really am not so sure. I'll try anything twice, though! I thought going 12-30 would accomplish both things for me...make climbing GMR more realistic and fix my cross chaining problem. I know as I get stronger, my gearing will change, thus putting me into the right area, however, that's probably going to take a while. Would two teeth make a big difference? So much to learn, so little money to buy stuff just to try it out.

Why do you say 11-27 would be better? I truly don't need to sprint down hills anymore. Wouldn't a 12-27 reduce the gearing gaps for me? What benefits of the 11 am I missing?
