I too am trying to figure out my gearing situation. I have a triple 53/42/30 with a 13-26 on the back. Most of the time I am in the middle chain ring except on really nasty climbs and then I use the 30. I almost never use the big chain ring. I do spin out on the 42/13 on fast group rides which I think would be fixed if I had a 12 or an 11.

I don't think it makes since to replace my triple until the chain rings or bottom bracket start to wear out. But, I would like to go with a double either 50/34 or the new 52/36 that Campy will be bringing out in a few months. If I put a 12/29 on a 52/36, I would have a similar range to a 50/34 with an 11/28. Campy doesn't make an 11/28 or I might go that route.
