Well, it depends upon what kind of measurable results you're trying to achieve? Lighter doesn't necessarily mean better. If you are a racer where your paycheque depends upon finish results, then perhaps lighter may help you bring home the bacon. But for $250, the lightness it buys will require stopwatches and precise testing regimens to document the improvements in performance.
For a lot of non-professionals, the $250 may be best spent on insurance type of upgrades. Stronger heavier wheels and touring tyres may help you save time and expense at the shoppe in repairs down the road. Perhaps some lighting would be an area where that money may make a bigger impact.
Thanks for the input, I agree with you as far as what is available in my upgrade budget. I am really trying to make this bike more fun to ride, and easier to accelerate/maintain cadence once up to speed. I think I am just going to stick with my current wheels and get some better tires.
