Buying new wheelset - need some help please

Found a killer deal on some Shimano XTR Trail wheels but I don't think there's any way to make them work with my bike because of the 15mm thru-axle. Once I realized this - and please don't make too much fun of me here - it also hit me that I'm not exactly sure what size my front quick release is on my current wheels. The fork is a 2004 Marzocchi Bomber Marathon with standard dropouts (not sure about the year of the wheels) but I guess I'd just always operated under the assumption that there was a standard size for QR until the newer thru-axles came out. Anyway, can someone help me figure out what size I need to look for in purchasing new wheels? I know I sound next-to-braindead here; this is just one of those things I never realized I knew so little about until it was time to act.

So, just to summarize: do I need to measure the dropout width or the skewer diameter to determine what to look for in a new wheel? Also, I'd love to get those XTR's; anyone know of a way to convert?

Thanks everyone.
