I don't think working on bikes has anything to do with it, most people don't do their own work.
yep. people always get quality and quantity mixed up. quality is how well you ride, quantity is how quickly you do it. people typically look at quantity in everything because it's easier to evaluate than quality which can be subtle.
a good cyclist will ride with you, not against you *(most of the time)
