Please tell us your age.

1. What type of bikes do 50+ folks ride?
I go for all-purpose bikes. The main one used to be a 1986 Ritchey Ascent, converted to a commuter.
In 2003 I bought a Turner 5 Spot for mountain riding.
In 2011 a Rivendell Bombadil replaced the Ritchey.

2. Do you take any special supplements/vitamins/minerals as you have grown older?
Just some vitamins from Trader Joe's, a multivitamin set and, occasionally, a joint support tablet. Not sure any of this helps.

3. How much do you feel you have "slowed down" if any?
I have slowed down these days, but that's mainly because I haven't ridden all that much in the last couple of years. Various reasons for this. Now I'm gradually working my way back into better shape.

4. How long have you been biking? New, around a while, biked all your life?
I'd walked pretty much everywhere until when I was 7 my mother took me down the street to a gentle hill and put me on a bike. It didn't take long for me to find out just how wonderful riding was. I've never been far from a bike since then.

5. What type of biking do you do? Long rides, touring, short rec rides.
I do anything with a bike that I can. I don't like driving, but I do have a car for those times I need to go longer distances. I'm a sand sculptor, and haul my equipment to the beach on a Bikes At Work trailer. I ride in the local mountains because I like being out there. I ride along the beach, but not in the summer if I can help it. Errands, commuting, fun... riding a bike is a way to make any journey better. The longest rides I've ever taken have been about 60 miles. More typical for explorations right now is 30 miles.

6. How often do you bike? Your approximate annual mileage?
This is highly variable. When I was commuting to the Hyperion sewage treatmant plant, I was doing about 100 miles per week. Toward the end of my City career I was commuting downtown occasionally. Now that I'm retired, I've rediscovered walking. So, most days I either walk or ride someplace.
