It's because people generally dismount on the left (non-drive) side of a bike. Even walking a bike, we generally walk on the left side of it. Anyone not concerned with showing components would inevitably dismount or walk from the left side and lean it against whatever they intend to support for the picture. Hence the non-drive side pictures.
