Bikes: 2008 Novara Randonee - love it. Previous bikes:Motobecane Mirage, 1972 Moto Grand Jubilee (my fave), Jackson Rake 16, 1983 C'dale ST500.

I tend to take the high point for both front and rear, and as it's just a starting point you don't really need a level. Besides, if you're going to be that accurate you better check to see that the surface you are on is level between the front and rear wheel positions.
