My fixie took a week of commuting to come to terms with but now it's the only bike in my shed (apart from a tandem). Just enjoy the intellectual and physical challenges that'll come your way. Good luck!
Thank you, Sir!
There isn't a track within several hundred miles unfortunately. No, this is just for fun and conditioning.
I've already taken most of the bike apart and put it back together and as a result it was out of commission last night when the kids wanted to ride around the neighborhood. I found myself riding my MTB instead, pedaling constantly without shifting gears, standing up to take the hills, increasing my cadence downhill and working harder than I ever have on that machine. Also, smoked the 13 year old son all the way around the neighborhood for most of an hour so I am getting into some kind of riding shape.
I am learning how to ride a bicycle all over again and the joy is palpable.
I've still got it.
