First clipless shoes: Shimano RT82 vs MT23 vs other options?

So I ordered some Shimano A520 SPD pedals to go with my first road bike which is coming on Friday. I went with SPD because I wanted the versatility of recessed cleats and now I'm looking for shoes.

I was looking at the Shimano MT23 (http://bike.shimano.com/publish/cont.../mtb/4/SH-MT23) because they look pretty good, and also look pretty easy to walk in for bike shoes. They were on sale at GiantNerd for $52 but they only had 1 of my size left and it sold out before I could order it :-(.

Now since I can only really get them for full price ($75) I'm looking for other options and found that the RT82 (http://bike.shimano.com/publish/cont...road/2/SH-RT82) is on sale at RealCyclist for $84, which seems like a great deal since the MSRP is $120.

The RT82's seem like a more proper road/touring shoe compared to the MT23 which Shimano calls a "multi-use/touring" shoe.

Which would I be better off getting for my first pair of cycling shoes? or are there any other alternatives for around $80-85 max?

Thanks a bunch,

-Peter
