Any ideas about what happened or how to fix it?
Is it the rim or the tire that is prevent the caliper from fitting?
Try loosening the adjustment screw AT THE CALIPER to free up the brake cable and see if the caliper expands some for you.
I will sometimes adjust the tension on my brake cable line AT THE CALIPER to have better response from my lever as my pads wear low, and I have had trouble getting the inflated tire free of caliper when removing the wheel after making this adjustment.
