2000 miles? Chainrings? Unless things have changed drastically, if you keep your chain clean and lubed as Ben says, you should get more than 2000miles out of your rig. Indeed, cogs sets should be replaced with the chain, but chainrings are overkill.
You'd be looking at spending at least $125- $200 every 1000-2000 miles. That doesn't seem right. Oh, Derek, keep dad's high pressure sprayer away from your bike unless you're really into stripping everything for a lube when you're done. A hose with no added pressure, a brush, some non-detergent soap, and a bit of degreaser for you chain with some old rags, and you're good to go.
