I'd only been in town a month when I started frequenting my new lbs, but after a few 20% tips and a couple of cold six packs every one seems to remember my name and my bike works flawlessly. The other side of it is to also not start getting demanding or expect any freebies. I know one of their biggest pet peeves is folks who want the wrenches to drop everything and work on their bike exclusively. I always just say whenever they can fit it into their schedules and it never seems to take to long.

But I agree with the other posters, I hate tipping some folks and my mechanics always earn it.
