I called someone about two frames for sale on craigslist. No pictures, no price. They sounded like they were pretty nice. One was R-531 and the other Columbus SL. The guy suggested $250 on the phone and I agreed. I got up early and managed to have a friend make the 30 min one-way drive. Upon arrival I looked them over quickly but not carefully. I was about pay him when he says he can't take anything less than $300. I didn't want to go back empty handed so I reluctantly agreed. After I got home I found a cracked fork crown on one frame and a cracked seat tube on the other with a couple of dents to boot. Lesson learned: Don't be afraid to take your time and look over the stuff with a ruler if you have to.
