I recently disposed of a 1982 Series 1 Diamondback Ridgerunner with a terminally fused BB. It was one of the original Suntour Cartridge jobs. After soaking it for over a year in whatever nasty cocktail I could think of, I finally set it on the drill press and started to drill it out. The BB shell cracked when I finally got some real torque on it from the two 1/4-inch holes I drilled through the BB carcas and tried to unscrew it with a breaker bar. These are the only MTB's I have ever seen with nervex-style lugs and oversized tubing. It is a shame it died.
