Thanks for all of the help. I took it back to the shop and I got a different mechanic to take a look at. He took the freehub apart, took a look at everything and put it all back together, now it is working great.

After all you've been through, I kinda wish your mechanic had said something about the root cause. But at least you've got the problem solved.
