Correct. I should have stated "I will care about the lack of ramps", as almost all after market rings I can find do not have them. It's just the shimano ones, and they come in very standard and limited sizes.

Yeah there is, the horrible gaps between gears. Hence cassettes with a 'bailout' first - one huge gap instead of a bunch of big ones.
