It was fun to watch an OC and not feel like hiding behind the sofa. The drum warriors of China scared the crap out of me in Beijing.
Once we'd seen the peloton go past and started to head for home my wife and I decided we wouldn't look at our phones, wouldn't answer the phone, wouldn't interact with any of our friends who might know the result just in case they mentioned it. I avoided visiting this forum before I'd seen the race on (recorded) TV because I figured all it would take was a thread titled "Cav takes gold" or "Wiggo crashes out" or whatever to spoil the surprise.
