Convenience doesn't excuse lawbreaking but it is curious how people get so disproportionately upset by things that make no difference to them. A cyclist going through a red light when it's perfectly safe doesn't hold up anyone behind them, doesn't force them to swerve or brake suddenly, doesn't make any difference to their life at all. It just seems like an excuse to fly into a dogmatic rage where a more pragmatic approach would be to shrug and ignore it.
