Bikes: too many bikes from 1967 10s (5x2)Frejus to a Sumitomo Ti/Chorus aluminum 10s (10x2), plus one non-susp mtn bike I use as my commuter

There's usually enough room to fudge the extra 5mm, especially with a seat tube fatter than 1-1/8" The makers use the same FD parts for all versions so every 1/8" of seat tube diameter is worth 1/6" (1.5mm) of outboard travel.

But if you've totally run out of travel and need only a hair more, you might be able to get it by modifying the FD. Take it off you bike, back off the outer limit, and flex it outboard until it stops, and see where it's actually bottoming out. Carefully filing away a bit from either part at this point of contact will extend it's range. But this is limited to only a few millimeters (varies by derailleur) so use some judgment before going this route. Otherwise it's a matter of doing some shopping.

If you have a band mount on a small seat tube, ie. 1-1/8, you can simulate the benefit of a larger tube and get extra outboard travel by using one with a larger band, mounted over a shim.
