The limit screw is unlikely to move on its own. The front derailleur getting knocked, and the position/angle changing is a more likely culprit. Check that the clamp bolt on the FD is tightened to the appropriate spec so that it cannot be knocked off line too easily.
The best chain catcher I know of for round seat tubes is the N-Gear Jumpstop (just Google it to find a retailer) - IME, the metal plate works much better than the plastic tooth on the ThirdEye, etc.
