Bikes: No-name LH drive track. Also ride an Exxon Graftek, a Masi, a Trek R200 or a RR Boneshaker for fun!

Hi Chombi, Haven't been out herein the forum for awhile due to relocating to N Cal for a new job/life. Was great to get the note in my box regarding this update, and I re-read the thread to make sure I had not missed anything. And I had. The "22"'s on the inside of the dropouts make her the 22nd LS made, so you have a "Larry's wife's kitchen" frameset. I would not worry over-much regarding the rebuild parts you choose for her as long as they are period-correct, of course. Many people (like me) would often build/"upgrade" to the non-Euro parts due either to cost or the lighter-weight available from the Japanese makers. A couple of other ideas for you - you might research & consider - one is maybe using "Hi-E" rims, these were made in the Nashville TN area in this time frame and are often available for not a lot of $ on eBay. (You don't have to use the special superlight spoke nuts to build them up, they're a nice touch though.) Also, we'd often cut a thin strip of electrical tape to match the underside of what we clamped to our frames, as it did a good job of protecting the overly-soft paint common back then. One other thing to think about (besides remembering to send me those close-ups of the decal set) is if you can find one of the old Rhode Gear bottle/cage combinations, the proprietary clamp-on system was all plastic on them. A final suggestion is that if you can locate a Jacobs Corp. Cool Gear seat, it is American, period correct and they were the co-sponsors of the Exxon Cool Gear cycle team the Stetina bros. rode these bikes for. Hi-E also made a replacement hollow alloy-tube seat frame for these seats if you really feel like going exotic - but I have not seen them in years other than those I have on my girls. Don't forget my pics, OK?
