What confuses me is that I thought Shimano had done quite extensive biomechanical RD for Biopace and found that - counterintuitive as it may be - the elliptical chainring should be elliptical 90 dergees off of what's on that bike. The logic was that the longest ratio should not on the downstroke but rather at the dead spot, the reason being that it harnesses the leg speed inertia built during the downstroke. I guess elliptical chainrings are just confusing no matter what.
I've read on another forum that the track bike is around $10-12K. Same as the LOOK 496/L96 bikes.
