Campagnolo/Sram

(sort of crossposted from Tandem Cycling)

I recently bought this tandem:

An '04 KHS Milano

It has shimano Sora shifters which I plan on replacing with a pair or late 90's 9 speed Campagnolo Record Ti shifters. My original plan was to use a Jtek shiftmate along with the og Shimano Deore RD on a Shimano spaced cassette. Somebody mentioned that people have had luck using Campy 10 speed levers with Sram exact actuation MTB derailleurs an a 10 speed Shimano cassette. This seems to be limited to the tandem crowd and there isn't much information out there about it. Does anybody think I will have any luck using a Sram MTB derailleur with my 9 speed Record shifters?

Thanks.
