I think the concern is uneven torque on the 4 bolts and you can jack the handlebars.
Imho, you'll be ok with a 4 bolt stem if you install it correctly. Use a torque wrench, cf assembly paste, and follow the pattern of how you gradually tihten the bolts.
What you don't want to do is crank one bolt all the way down before you've started working the other bolts down. I think Easton specs a 2 bolt stem to avoid that issue.
