That's pretty much the way my club (Thread City Cyclers of Willimantic, CT) operates. Our B ride regroups whenever a gap gets too big. We usually ride 40-50 mi. at around 15 mph with 2-3,000 ft. of climbing and have a good social event going. A lot of fun on a Saturday morning.
