Like no one ever crashed on a single bike? Having descended on a tandem at 65 mph, and having had front blow descending on a tandem as well as a single bike, I'd rather have a blow out on the tandem.

The tandem has a much longer wheel base and is inherently more stable. We've survived a front blow out downhill at 40 mph (admittedly going straight) And recovered from a couple of rather impressive slides on a flat rear in 90 degree turns in the low 30's.)
