I had a SRAM PC-850 chain on a 1995 Trek 850 with 7-speed freewheel and found two cracked chain sideplates whileg cleaning. Is this a common issue with such chains? The chain is less than 2 years old and the bike ridden only in a mostly flat city. I believe the chain it replaced was the original so expected it not to fail so quickly.
