I can commiserate with your feelings about the bent . . . I mean screw that, that's like giving up.

Besides, I see those bents as a death trap. Drivers can't see us on the road on a regular bike, now you're going to get down even lower and ride next to these distracted jackasses, many of whom can barely see over the dashboard? Not bloody likely! Oh yeah, right, that skinny little yellow flag will make all the difference.

I agree that the hilly walking is a good alternative during the convalescence. In fact some moderate hiking might suit you even better. Mohonk and Minnewaska have miles of great trails that include lots of rock climbing to varying degrees, and will keep you in good condition until you can get back on the bike. You can bring the pup and walk till your legs fall off if you like.
