That sounds expensive. What's wrong with the crankset? Rebuilding cottered cranks/bb is very cheap and easy. I'd put my vote in for just installing the cog on the wheel that's on there now and running two brakes.

But I like cottered cranks, if I had the option I'd have a classific fixed gear with 27" wheels and cottered cranks hanging in my garage. So, probably ignore my advice.
