I was very happy to finally liberate this Somec from a friends back yard. I offered to purchase as soon as I laid eyes on it, after learning of the bike just a few weeks ago. He agreed to sell only to change his mind when I called the following day to schedule a pick up time. I was crushed. I had to have/save this bike, it had been rotting in his yard for years.
When he agian agreed to sell, after some gentle prodding from a mutual friend, I waisted no time getting it in to my garage.
The bike sports a full ealry C record group, except for the shifters, that are Super Record. Wheels are Mavic GEL 330's with completely rotted tubulars. The perferated Turbo saddle is pretty much toast too. Frame may have been repainted at some time, as there is yellow and maroon paint peeking through a few small chipped areas. Some identifying frame features are the top tube is channeled, on the left side, to route the rear brake cable. Also, the head tube lugs sport an "S", others I have seen online only have a small hole in this same spot.
I would like to be able to determine the model year and see some original paint as well. Any help appreciated.
